Finishing the Workshop

In early spring, Alex tackled the last of our workshop’s wood siding.

In the spirit of social distancing, Alex took time to finish siding our workshop. The cypress wood is stained with linseed oil and ages naturally with time and the weather. Copper gutters complete the look.

Huge Kitchen Island

These customers wanted a very large kitchen center, and that’s what they got. After fabricating the 800 lb. quartz countertop, Alex and six others installed this kitchen island. Can you imagine dinners and parties in this space? What fun!

When the Boiler Blows

Our boiler clanked and clunked for a few days and then died. It’s currently minus many degrees right now (depending on the app and whether you go with actual or “real feel” temps). Bottom line: we won’t have heat or hot water for several days—until the plumber can order and install a new boiler. In the meantime, we have a wood fire and two electrical units warming the house. Our 13-year-old son decided to bake blueberry lemon scones. He was undaunted by the 50-degree temperature inside our house, and figured it was time to turn on the oven and warm our bellies with yummy food.

P.S. The “real feel” temp is currently -11 degrees.

Heating the family room the old-fashioned way.
